Games To-Do List 2008

The corpse of E3 clawed its way out of the ground this week and paraded about the streets of San Francisco, handing out asset discs and giving live presentations to press members who placed RSVP’s under their pillows at night. Something like that, I suppose. Its been a week full of events and embargoes and all that other good stuff that makes me realize how excited I am for this year in games.

At this point, there isn’t anything jumping out and screaming for the game of the year attention (in my wacky opinion, of course), but there are a lot of things I can’t wait to experience.

In my pursuit to make the blogging a regular bit, allow me to share with you some of those wonderful things.

Play a Top-Tier Zangief: The last time Zangief could be considered anywhere close to being top-tier was Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, and he was upper-mid at best. From my time with Street Fighter IV at this years Game Developers Conference, its clear that this time around he’s an absolute beast. Hell, Ono-San even told me he was up for a nerf. Instead, I see Japanese test location footage and he’s even better than before! I’ll be finding out for certain sometime very soon..

Create a Sackboy: I fear for Little Big Planet in that I think the hype is going to burn a lot of folks, but to hell with it, I want to create me a Sackboy. With maybe a mustache or perhaps a goofy cape or something. I’m not really interested in the whole “build a level” aspect of the game, but I’ll gladly join some friends in there.

Build Some Kind of Muscle: Have you seen these little waif arms? Wii Fit arrived in our office this week and when trying out the strength training exercises, I realized I can’t do more than 5 push-ups without feeling like I’m about to fall apart. The girlfriend is pretty excited over it for the weight loss potential (oh dames), but I’m interested in seeing if it can help me gain some sort of upper arm strength. If I can do more than 10 push-ups by the end of the year without dying, I’ll consider it a success.

Reach Colonel Rank in Halo 3: I may only be at about 160 EXP at the moment, but if there are more double experience weekends like Griffball, I could be in good shape to make huge leaps up the ranking chain. I foresee a lot of “retard bars” on my path to glory.

Expect to see more updates like this as I add and access the list.

Great list! I need to do one of these for myself… it’s easy to get my gaming aspirations clouded with the barrage of gaming events and PR shtuff going on.

Also, I hope you’re coming to E3. It would be fun to hang out there :D

Zangief was top-tier in Alpha 3 and EX+a.

    …yeah, I guess those don’t count though. =P
